Maysie's FarmMaysie's Farm Newsletter: Fresh from the Fields
December 2008

December 10, 2008
Greetings!

This is a reminder that the Holiday Charity Shopping Night to benefit Maysie's Farm takes place this Friday, December 12 from 5pm to 9pm at Wendell August Forge and Ten Thousand Villages in Exton.

Wendell August offers hand-crafted metal giftware made on site in their forge. Ten Thousand Villages has handmade gifts from around the world. You'll have a chance to find unique gifts at both stores, and your purchases will help Maysie's.

Free tours will be offered throughout the evening at both stores. In addition, we'll have local wines and cheeses for you to sample as you shop. The stores are located just off the intersection of Main Street and Woodcutter Street in the MainStreet at Exton shopping complex. We hope to see you there!

Also...if you ordered a holiday turkey from Ben Stoltzfus, he will be delivering them on Friday, December 19. Remember, the Maysie's "store" is open on Fridays all winter. Ben will continue to deliver on Fridays (order online by noon on Wednesday), and there is salmon available too (no pre-order). Sam has arranged for a delivery of Sweetwater Breads this Friday and whatever doesn't sell that day will go into the freezer. Unfortunately, there are no more chickens from Green Haven Farm available this year.

Enjoy the holidays!

Greetings!

If you used our website ordering system to place an order with Ben this week, PLEASE CALL BEN TO CONFIRM YOUR ORDER (717-768-3437). Because there are no more CSA pickup dates on the online calendar, the system got confused and sent error messages to the webmaster. He is correcting the problem, and everything should be all set starting next week, but he's afraid that some of this week's orders may have been lost. So...if you're planning on picking up an order from Ben this Friday just give him a call and make sure he has your order.

Sorry for the confusion!

~ Colleen

Wish List
Looking to get rid of any of the following items? Maysie's Farm will put them to good use! The first three needs are for our new "office," which is (still) under construction in the old "staff room":

• Wooden file cabinets
• Small electric range/oven
• Sink base, under-counter cabinets, wall cabinets and a short length of countertop material
• Picnic table(s)
• Large outdoor canopy
• Solar powered walkway lights (ideally to match the two donated by Martha Thomae)
• Straw bale chopper (for mulching large areas)
• Assistance building a bio-diesel production system or a compost tea brewing system
• Diesel station wagon or delivery vehicle for use as our produce hauler (for the Farmers Market and our Farm and School partnership) that we could run on bio-diesel or vegetable oil
• Housing for potential Farm Manager
Please contact Sam at (610) 458-8129 if you can donate any of these items.
